Pekan firing now
Mr Poh just came back from pekan and Pekan is firing now.
Apparently the bait fish moved into the Pekan area a few days ago and the pelagic have followed.
On Monday the sailfish followed them in.
On Tuesday the Sailfish, Cobias and Tengirris were the catch of the day. A group of Sabre KL customers went out on Wednesday and landed 27pieces of Tengirris – all on HAlco lures
This group sold a couple of their Halco lures to a desperado for RM 50 each.
On Wednesday , another Sabre group went out and landed 13 pieces of Tengirris. Sailfish were everywhere but not so much cobias.
The sea was a bit choppy in the morning and they nailed the first tengirris within 5 minutes of trolling on the Sorceror 150DD. The outstanding colours were H 78, R 21 and R 4 in popularity.
There accompanying photos were from the second group. Note the different colours of the lures used.
I was told that my friend sold 2 Halcos to a couple of Singaporeans and they landed 7 pieces of Tengirris on them two lures only.
On Thursday, it was my turn. The sea was dead calm due to the heavy rain around midnight on Wednesday . There were a lot of bird activity. We saw a lot of sailfish everywhere chasing after the bait fish.
We landed only 3 Tengirris. All were in the morning. We gave up trolling for them around 1pm plus and spent the rest of our time jigging and squid fishing. The favourite lure colour getting all the hits were the R 21 ( referred to as Elton Johns) , the H 68 and the R 4.
We had quite a few hits but no hook ups.
We did not hook up any cobias.
I understand when we were at the Pekan jetty that another rboat landed 4 pcs as well. All were caught on Halco sorcerer lures as well.
This lure now is red hot .
My manager is driving up to Pekan today for a trip tomorrow and his truck is full of Sorcerors as well.
The town had run dry of Halcos. Apparently, the bait fish will not be hanging around much longer.
The boatman I used is called Mr Loh. It was a 30 plus footer boat with a 6 foot beam. It was a very comfortable boat. The engine used is a 200HP – 6 stroke outboard.
He gutted and cleaned up all the squids we landed ( over 20kgs)
The charter cost RM 1100.00 ( approx S$ 425.00)per day.
I stayed in a hotel in Kuantan where there is wifi and drinking places all within walking distance. Cost is RM 99 for 2 single beds. The journey to Pekan from Kuantan takes about 30 mins.
Unfortunately, my Iphone 4S ( downloaded with the latest IOS 7 ) jammed up after the trip. I am not able to slide and enter the pass code. All the trips photos were in the phone. Damn sad.
Any advice from any tech geeks on how I can solve my problem? Please email to me or pm me on our FB page
